The border between Greece and Turkey follows the Maritsa River, therefore the border crossing is in the middle of the bridge. Compared to all the other crossings we had this was way more militarized and we've been checked by several agents both from Greece and Turkey.

Our first stop in Turkey is Gallipoli, on the Dardanelles strait. Here we are planning to get a local sim card as our European one is not working (Nor is Starlink, which is illegal in Turkey) and to change Euros to Turkish lira.

Our parking location in Gallipoli was really panoramic, as we were on top of the lighthouse cape, from were we could see the huge bridge spanning the strait.

On the cape, which was also within the city, as a 10-minute walk would lead you to the city centre, there was also a historical open-air mosque.
I thought it was the ruin of a small mosque, but no, it's intended to be like this. Sailors used to pray here before walking down to the port and embark.

Here we got also our first taste of Turkey with the ever-present çai (pronounced Chai) and a big Baklava
