Time to enter the southernmost region of mainland Greece, Peloponnese!
As the first destination, we climbed to the staggering altitude of 2200m, reaching the Helmost Observatory on top of Mount Chelmos.
And we started from sea level!

They built an observatory here because the mountain is often above the mist and cloud level, and the surroundings are pretty dark.

Our goal, besides star gazing, a trendy activity in our camper, was to test the camper for high altitudes and winter temperatures, before the real winter arrives.
While during the day the sunny cool air at altitude was very pleasant, at night the temperature outside dropped to -1, so it was the perfect test.

We tested the backup petrol generator, the diesel heater, our clothing and the winterised bed, with heavy blankets and an extra blanket to cover the back doors.
In the end, it was too warm to sleep, as we set our heater at 20 degrees, but actually reached 25 degrees. So the test was a success!

Another finding was that because of the very dry air, with no mist, the solar panel was pumping as a full solar farm!
PS. No pics of stars, as the crescent moon ruined the sky and it was too cold!
